    Conway Stewart 286 (Stock#663)

The Conway Stewart 286 was made from 1930 to 1945, and this green and black marbled example is a later one. It's a substantial pen at 12.7cm capped and 16cm posted. It has a peaked top, diamond clip, and a diamond shield on the lever. It is free of cracks, major scratches or bite-marks. The barrel imprint is clear and legible. The gold plating on the clip and cap ring is good but it is worn on the lever. The cap and barrel threads are good and the pen closes firmly with a single turn. The nib is the original large 14ct Conway Stewart No5, flexible and medium. A new sac has been fitted and the pen fills and writes beautifully (see writing sample).
