    Conway Stewart 388 (Stock#499)

The Conway Stewart 388 was manufactured from 1939 to 1955, and this pen is an example of the later production. The number being on the first line of the barrel imprint indicates that it was made between 1950 and 1955. The glossy black pen measures 12.7cm. With its peaked clip screw, narrow/medium/narrow cap rings and diamond clip, it's an elegant standard-sized pen and appears to have been Conway Stewart's most popular model of the time. The gold plating is good throughout. There are no splits, chips or bite-marks but there are some small scratches on the cap (see photo) The cap and barrel threads are good and the pen closes firmly with a single turn. A new sac has been fitted and it's a superb writer with its semi-flexible medium stub nib (see writing sample).
