    Conway Stewart 388 (Stock#552)

The Conway Stewart 388 was manufactured from 1939 to 1955, and this pen is a superb example of the later production. The number being on the first line of the barrel imprint indicates that it was made between 1950 and 1955. The burgundy/pink marbled pen measures 12.7cm capped and 15.8cm posted. With its peaked clip screw, narrow/medium/narrow cap rings and diamond clip, it's an elegant standard-sized pen and appears to have been Conway Stewart's most popular model of the time. The gold plating is good throughout. There are no splits, chips or bite-marks. The cap and barrel threads are good and the pen closes firmly with a single turn. The nib is a firm fine. A new sac has been fitted and the pen fills and writes well (see writing sample).
