This Conway Stewart 475 is a late 30s pen, measuring 13.2 cm capped. It is made from black chased hard rubber, the chasing wearing a little thin on the barrel and some slight fading throughout. The pen closes firmly with a single turn. The gold plating is good. The barrel imprint is worn but visible. There are no cracks or bite marks but there is an abrasion near the top of the cap (see photo). The original 14 carat Conway Stewart nib is a firm medium. A new sac has been fitted and the pen fills and writes well (see writing sample.)
This is an older version of the 475 usually seen. Despite its age it remains in good order and is a fine writer.
