This Mabie Todd Swan 3250, in dark red celluloid, dates to the late 40s or early 50s. The gold plating is good on the lever but shows wear on the ball end of the clip and on the two cap rings. There are no cracks, major scratches or bite marks. The barrel imprint is clear. The pen closes firmly with a three-quarter turn. A new sac has been fitted and the pen fills and writes well (see writing sample). The 14 carat gold Swan No 2 nib is a firm fine.
A reliable pen with at least another 70 years service in it and a very pleasant writer.
