This is a splendid Swan 4260 pen and pencil set in its original box. The set dates to the late 40s or early 50s. Both pen and pencil are in excellent condition, with little wear to the gold plating and no cracks, major scratches or bite marks. There is a small flaw on the cap (see photo). The barrel imprints are crisp and clear. The pen closes firmly with a single turn and a new sac has been fitted. It fills and writes well (see writing sample). The 14 carat gold Swan No 3 nib is a firm medium. The pencil operates as it should and contains lead.
The highly decorative grey, white and gold box is unusual and is in good condition. It contains the instructions for use. A practical writing set or a collector's piece.
