    Swan SF230 (Stock#3254)

This splendid Mabie Todd Swan SF230 is a late 1920s pen. It is in black hard rubber with a mottled hard rubber insert at the cap top. There are no cracks, scratches or bite marks though there is slight wear to the gold plating on the barrel bands and the lever, and someone has scored a line across the hard rubber insert (see photo). The pen measures 14 cm capped. The cap and barrel imprints are crisp and clear. The pen closes firmly with a single turn. A new sac has been fitted and the pen fills and writes well (see writing sample). The 14 carat gold Swan No 2 nib is a semi-flexible medium.

A wonderfully dignified pen, the SF230 might be said to be the best of all Swans! This is a fine example and a very pleasant writer.
